Rental Requirements

Do I need to book in advance?

While walk-ins are welcome, we strongly recommend booking in advance, especially during peak season (May-September). This guarantees your preferred bike type and rental dates.

What do I need to rent a bike?

You'll need:

  • Valid ID (passport or driver's license)
  • Credit card for deposit (€100 hold or cash deposit)
  • To be 18 years or older

Can children rent bikes?

Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will sign the rental agreement. We offer kids bikes (ages 6-12), child seats (ages 1-5), and bike trailers.

Pickup & Returns

Where do I pick up my bike?

Our shop is located at 12 Rue Sainte-Catherine, 33000 Bordeaux. We're in the heart of the city, easily accessible by tram (lines B & C, stop: Sainte-Catherine) or on foot.

What are your opening hours?

We're open Monday-Sunday, 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Last bike pickup is at 6:00 PM. Returns are accepted until 7:00 PM.

What if I return the bike late?

Late returns are charged at €10 per hour, billed in 30-minute increments. If you know you'll be late, please call us to arrange an extension.

Can I return the bike to a different location?

Currently, all bikes must be returned to our Bordeaux shop. We don't offer one-way rentals or drop-off at other locations.

What's included with every rental?

All rentals include:

  • Helmet (multiple sizes)
  • Heavy-duty lock and cable
  • Repair kit (pump, tire levers, spare tube)
  • Front and rear lights
  • Reflective vest
  • Phone mount
  • Water bottle holder
  • Route maps
  • 24/7 support number

How long do e-bike batteries last?

Our e-bike batteries last:

  • City E-Bike: 50km range
  • Standard E-Bike: 60-80km range
  • Premium E-Bike: 80-100km range

Range depends on terrain, rider weight, and assist level. All e-bikes come fully charged, and we provide a charger for multi-day rentals.

Can I add accessories to my rental?

Yes! We offer:

  • Child seats (€5/day)
  • Bike trailers (€15/day)
  • Panniers/saddlebags (€5/day)
  • GPS devices (€8/day)

Payments & Deposits

How much is the deposit?

We require a €100 refundable deposit. This can be a credit card hold (released upon return) or cash deposit (refunded immediately when you return the bike in good condition).

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept:

  • Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex)
  • Debit cards
  • Cash (euros)
  • PayPal (online bookings only)

What's your cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your rental start time. Cancellations within 24 hours are charged 50% of the rental fee.

Safety & Rules

Do I have to wear a helmet?

While helmets are not legally required for adults in France, we strongly recommend wearing one and provide a helmet free with every rental. Helmets are mandatory for children under 12.

What if the bike breaks down?

All rentals include a repair kit for minor issues (flat tires, etc.). If you have a major mechanical problem, call our 24/7 support line. We'll either guide you through a fix or arrange a bike swap/pickup.

What if the bike is stolen or damaged?

You're responsible for the bike during your rental period. Always use the provided lock. Theft or major damage beyond normal wear will be charged at repair/replacement cost (up to the bike's value). We recommend travel insurance that covers bike rentals.

Can I ride anywhere in France?

You're welcome to ride anywhere, but most customers stay within the Bordeaux region. Popular destinations include Saint-Émilion (40km), Médoc wine route, and Arcachon Bay (60km).

Do you provide route recommendations?

Yes! We provide detailed route maps for popular cycling routes including:

  • Bordeaux city highlights (15km)
  • Garonne River path (20-40km)
  • Pessac-Léognan wine route (35km)
  • Saint-Émilion vineyards (45km)
  • Médoc châteaux route (60km)
